Wander Wild Lens
I’m Alexandra Car, a travel and wildlife photographer who has spent a lifetime chasing the beauty of the world through my lens. It all began when I was eight years old, clutching a mechanical single-lens reflex (SLR) camera that required a hand-operated lever to advance the film and capture the next frame. I still remember the weight of it in my hands, the satisfying click as the shutter opened, and the magic of seeing the world come to life in the prints. That was the moment my passion ignited.
Since that day, I’ve never looked at the world the same way. I see compositions everywhere – in the way sunlight filters through leaves, the way a bird takes flight, or how shadows stretch across ancient stone. Photography became not just something I did, but how I experienced life.
My passion lies in photographing nature, wildlife, and architecture. There’s something incredible about capturing the wild grace of an animal in its natural habitat or the intricate details of a building shaped by generations. Of all the places I’ve been, Africa holds a special place in my heart. The raw beauty, untamed landscapes, and majestic wildlife continue to call me back.
Travel and photography are the twin threads that weave through my life. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit all seven continents, documenting the stunning diversity of our planet. For me, it’s not just about the destinations – it’s about the people I meet, the languages I hear, the food I taste, and the stories that unfold in each corner of the globe. Every photograph I take feels like a fingerprint – unique, personal, and a reflection of that fleeting moment in time.
On this site, I hope to share not just the images I’ve captured but the sense of wonder that drives me to keep exploring. I’m excited to offer prints of my favourite shots, as well as mini-courses for those looking to dive deeper into photography – from mastering Lightroom to understanding how to compose a photo that truly resonates.
Welcome to Wander Wild Lens – I hope these images inspire you to see the world a little differently, just as photography has done for me.
